Thinking Spring in Fall

Updated: Feb 5

Everyone’s talking pumpkin spice, crisp nights and cozy sweaters, but here our heads and hands are planning for spring. As we finish this season’s harvest it’s time to look forward. With the anticipation of the field above full of blooms for the 2020 season, this is the time of year to prepare the soil and get beds ready to accept seedlings. It’s the time of year for crop planning, soil amending, seed ordering and learning how to use a BCS walk behind tractor!

We consider this past year to be our first season. Even though we didn’t sell a thing, we grew some pretty blossoms and share them with others. It was our season to establish the business end and educate ourselves on how to grow sustainably. It was our season to find an adequate site for the farm and build structures for season extension. It was the season to evaluate what we already have to invest in the farm and what we will need going forward. It’s been a season of stretching and growing.

We’re thinking of all the ways this business can serve and grow in Orange and surrounding communities. We hope that you will make the conscious choice to buy local when choosing your flowers for events or just to have the beauty of flowers around your home. Seek us out in the spring to see what we’re growing and where our flowers will be. You can find us on Instagram and Facebook.

Happy fall and happy thoughts of spring to you.
